Frognation began in Tokyo in 1995 after chance clubbing encounters brought Kengo Watanabe, Dai Sato and Lynn Robson together. With backgrounds ranging from music journalism and animation to business, the three joined forces to create a company incorporating vinyl record label Frogman that was being run by Kengo and Dai on a part-time basis. Frognation has been at the forefront in the move towards integrating music, animation and gaming projects, and succeeded in initiating collaboration between East and West by combining creativity with commerce. With an enthusiastic following on the dance-floors of Japan and Europe, Frogman has opened the door to more contacts within these industries, enabling the Frognation team to work on game software development, website design, animation scripts, and Tokyo-London consultancy services. Lynn returned home in the late 1990s to formally set up the UK side, while Kengo and Dai continue to run the Tokyo office. The Frognation concept remains the same - a company that acts as a spring-board for musicians, designers, game developers, and businesses to collaborate with their counterparts in Tokyo or London. |
